What we built
PixelShrink provides a simple browser-based solution for converting supported image formats — JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, and BMP — into AVIF. The goal is to give anyone, from casual users to web developers, a quick way to try modern image compression without installing software or signing up for a service.
Our Mission
Make modern image optimization accessible and easy to use. We believe converting an image to a more efficient format shouldn't require technical expertise, paid software, or handing your files over to a third-party server.
Browser-Based Processing
The converter is designed to process images locally using the capabilities built into modern web browsers, such as the Canvas API. When you select or drop an image into the tool, the conversion work is intended to happen on your own device rather than by sending the file to an external server for processing.
This relies on browsers exposing a way to encode AVIF from JavaScript. As of today, that capability hasn't shipped in any major browser — Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari can all display AVIF images, but none of them yet let a webpage create one. This page checks for that capability automatically, so the converter will start working here as soon as a browser adds it, with no changes needed on our end.
Simple & Lightweight
No account or complicated setup is required. Open the page, choose or drop in an image, adjust the quality if you'd like, and convert. The interface is intentionally minimal so the tool stays fast and easy to use on both desktop and mobile devices.
